Silver filigree of Odisha is one of the finest and most unique art of the state. Locally called tarakasi, and with its roots in  the Millennium City of Cuttack and villages surrounding it, the process consists of drawing silver through a series of small holes to produce fine strands of wire and shaped to different designs. The fine wires are then shaped to forms of animals, birds, flowers and even miniature monuments, utensils and other souvenirs.

Of late filigree Jagannath and the Trinity have become popular and most of the jewellers dealing with silver jewellery are having the popular creations with them for the tourists.
