Tropical, but cool weather for outing

Situated in the coastal plains of Odisha, Bhubaneswar experiences typical tropical weather conditions, and is greatly influenced by the heat and cold waves that sweep in from the plains of Northern India. The city temperature is hot and humid throughout the year shooting past 40 degrees during peak summer. The winters and monsoons too are often marked by occasional hot sunshine and persistent humidity.

While the winter stretches for a short three month period-from December to February, the summer continues from March to May. The city experiences rain from June to September followed by a brief post-monsoon period of October to November.

The best time to visit most of the city, therefore, is during the cool, dry season with clear skies between November and March. The Temple City, as Bhubaneswar is known in the tourism circle, has plenty of greenery, so the evening breeze is soothing and every visitor to the city experiences the lovely evening outing across the city.

Summer (March to May)

The average minimum temperature remains around 25 degree Celsius during Summer in Bhubaneswar that starts from March and continues till June. At the end of February, the temperature starts to turn relatively high and humid. The average maximum temperature is 36 degrees Celsius.

Monsoon  (June to October)

Monsoon showers hit Bhubaneswar around the last week of June. Barring a few wet days and intermittent showers the temperature during the daytime remains humid. On most days, the skies are clear with temperature rising to 38 degrees Celsius. The average maximum temperature is 32 degree Celsius from September to November.  

Winter (November to February)

December marks the beginning of winters in the temple city. The average minimum temperature is 16 degrees Celsius while the average maximum temperature is 28 Celsius at day time. On certain days the temperature might drop down to 15 degree Celsius during late night and early morning hours. Normally during daytime, the temperature would remain warm and quite apt for an outing.
