Ancient History, Modern Transformation

An ancient city with a modern outlook, Bhubaneswar is as good as a city can get. While the centuries old monuments of the city remains wrapped up in Time, the new age corporate buildings are racing against Time to fulfill their objectives.

While the historically significant 3rd Century BC Sisupalgarh, 1st Century BC Khandagiri caves and numerous temples dating back to ancient era lend an old world charm to the city, its emergence as a planned city and Odisha’s capital that is also a hub for education and health makes it one of the most convenient places to live in.

A Buddhist, Jain and Shaivite centre, the spiritual connect in Bhubaneswar can still be felt in its calm and serene evenings while the youth here, excelling in music, technology, sports and many other activities, adds the buzz to the city. This seemingly complex thread which amalgamates so beautifully was the reason Bhubaneswar was voted not only as the Best City in India in the Smart City survey, it made the final list for the World Smart City Awards in 2016 held at Barcelona.

The city is blessed with a landscape and heritage that is a visual treat. The rivers at either end of the city – Daya and Kuakhai, the majestic monuments dotted across the city. Sikharchandi, Khandagiri and Udaygiri hills celebrate Nature’s bounty. The citizens are spoilt for choice in the evenings- on offer are shopping both traditional and chic and modern, watch cultural programs and theatre at one of the auditoriums or just catch up with a movie at one cineplexes or just go for a quiet walk at the various parks.  To sum “Bhubaneswar City Life” is a wholesome experience!

Then there is also a wide array of delicacies from every corner of the State as well as from across India and the world offered along the nooks and corners of the city where gastronomes lap up delectable fares.

With its lush green surroundings, wide roads, parks, a vigilant Commissionerate Police, hub of top educational institutions like IIT, NISER, IIIT, XIMB, XUB, KIIT, KISS, SOA, Centurion and health facilities offered by top Indian brands like AIIMS, Apollo, Amri, Care to name a few, as well as slew of corporate houses setting up business operations in the city, Bhubaneswar is poised to become the education, healthcare and economic hub of Eastern India in not so distant future.
