Regional Museum of Natural History at Acharya Vihar in Bhubaneswar was set up in 2004. It was the third such museum in the country and the only one in the Eastern region under the aegis of regional centre of the National Museum of Natural History, under the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
The museum is a rich source of information on environmental education and evolution of animal and plant life.
Its visual medium through pictures, sculptures and models appeals to visitors of all ages. Its various galleries showcase the vibrant biodiversity of Odisha, the North-East, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, African forests and even Madagascar.
