CYCLE TRAIL – NANDANKANAN

The Nandankanan Cycle Train has been initiated with an objective to discover the beauty of the wilderness with the romanticism of cycling inside a forest area.

Also emphasising the need for green space and to encourage cycling in the smart city, Bhubaneswar Development Authority has come up with cycle trails as a part of Bhubaneswar Nature Walks, curated by Playbook Consultancy.

The cycling trail stars at the main gate of Nandakanan and ends at the Glass House. Cyclists will be enthralled by the beauty of the rose garden with 55 different varieties of roses and 1,200 plants in total. The cyclists also get a chance to pedal around the Botanical Garden, and witness an array of winter blossoms. They are even briefed about the history of the park and the varieties of gardens.

Pedalling up a steep incline, the cyclists reach the Rosarium or Rose Garden to be awestruck by the crimson carpet of roses and the 1,200 distinct varieties of roses. Another special attraction is the glass house, known for its gems of succulent plants.

On the way back to the starting point, the cyclists cycle along the turquoise Kanji lake, with a brief stop nearby, to witness the most mesmerising reflection of the winter sunset and get thrilled to spot a variety of smaller birds nesting near the marshes of the water body.

Other points of attraction include the dry garden, exquisite collection of cacti, Butterfly Park and a lot more.
