When it comes to cultural matters, Bhubaneswar showcases various aspect of Odisha's rich performing arts almost every day at least at one of the several auditoriums in the city. Visitors to the city can experience the enchanting Odissi 'abhinayas' or enjoy soulful music or even the thrilling plays staged at the auditoriums frequently. Named after the legendary poet and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, it is the nerve centre of cultural activities in the city. It is located in the heart of the city near the Odisha Assembly. The grandest dance and music festivals are hosted at this prestigious auditorium that has hosted the biggest names in national dance and music scenario since almost five decades.
The auditorium was designed by Julius Vaz in 1960s when Bhubaneswar became the new capital of Odisha.
The best time to visit Rabindra Mandap is 6 pm which is the time when most cultural events commence.

Located right next to the Odisha State Museum, the Bhanja Kala Mandap, in the Sanskriti Bhawan is home to the Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi, Sahitya Akademi and other prestigious bodies of the Culture Department of the State. It is another hub for cultural events. A monthly theatre festival, the annual Odissi International and many such major events are hosted here.
Evenings are the best time to drop in at the Bhanja Kala Mandap when there is an
event or festival organised at the venue.

The public auditorium under the information and public relations department, Jayadev Bhawan, also known as Soochana Bhawan, was set up in 1976. The 377 seater auditorium has emerged as a great venue for cultural events, award functions, art workshops at the hall on the first floor and many public events, both hosted by government and non-government bodies.
Since it also has a library, used mostly by aspirants of competitive exams, visitors may drop in at any time of the day, more so as the auditorium is adjacent to the Indira Gandhi Park.

This is a unique open air amphitheatre with a huge stage that is a major venue for music concerts, film award programmes and various cultural programmes. It is situated in the premises of the unique institution for professional and academic training in performing arts, the Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya.
The Utkal Mandap has a seating capacity of 5000 people and was constructed by the Culture Department in the year 2006 to promote art and culture.

It is the hub for fairs and exhibitions that are hosted round the year in Bhubaneswar. The Exhibition Ground is managed by the Industrial Development Corporation Odisha (IDCO). Handloom fairs, terracotta exhibition, book fairs, dance and music shows and many more events are hosted here. The vast ground is capable of hosting two to three events simultaneously.
Visitors may drop in anytime after 2 pm at the venue if exhibitions or fairs are on. The events continue till 9 pm in the evening.
